Hanover Project presents a solo exhibition by Sheffield based artist Bob Levene.
For her exhibition in Hanover Projects, Bob is presenting a series of performances to camera including the works Depth of Field and Past Signal. Interested in how an individuals understanding of the physical world is shaped by the limitations of the body they inhabit, she uses the land to experiment with our perceptions of distance, space, speed & time. She adopts pseudo-scientific strategies and anthropological methods of recording to analyse the ‘nature’ of things, exploring the scientific and artistic approaches to making sense of the world. Her work manifests as recorded video and sound, performance, installations, films and photography.
A Measure of Land is the gallery’s official launch exhibition since the new building was opened in July 2012. Managed by a steering group of lecturers from the Fine Art department, Hanover Project is a new contemporary art space situated in Hanover Building on the university campus. A programme of exhibitions, events and related activity presents national and international artist’s work alongside a number of student-led exhibitions.
