Hanover Project courtesy of Matthew Houlding at Studio 2 Gallery in Todmorden are pleased to invite you to ‘Works From The Water’s Edge’ an exhibition of new and recent sculptural work from Richard Wincer. The exhibition was originally presented at Studio 2 in November 2017 where it received much acclaim and attention.
The constant factor in Richard Wincer’s art practice is his association and relationship with the rural landscape. He draws upon memories of a childhood spent in Worcestershire and on feelings and thoughts evoked by particular places or pieces of landscape.
For his show at Studio 2, Richard has brought together the three disciplines of sculpture, woodcut printmaking and painting; to produce a series of sculptural paintings. This collection of work creates a narrative, incorporating images, portraits and objects, and their interaction with the landscape. The results are emotive and sensitive expressions of his feelings towards the English countryside.
Richard Wincer was born and raised in Worcestershire and studied at Goldsmiths College, London. He currently lives and works in Hebden Bridge.
Richard has exhibited widely- including shows at the Hayward and Serpentine Galleries, The Royal Academy and most recently at Gallery Different, London. http://www.richardwincer.co.uk
