PRETTY IN PINK
19 FEBRUARY- 26 FEBRUARY 2018.
23 FEBRUARY- OPENING EVENT – 5PM-7PM
The Hanover Project is pleased to announce- PRETTY IN PINK, an exhibition curated by 2nd year BA (Hons) Fine Art Students.
The show features work from eleven Female Artists of varying ages, based in the NW, exploring their own interpretations and experiences of Pink.
Through mixed media, each Artist has created work which responds to the specific colour palette which stereotypically, has feminine association.
From cutesy, innocent, naivety, to fiery, passionate seductiveness, pink in its many shades evokes powerful, well-established connotations. But this hasn’t always been the case. Until a consumerist shift in the 1930’s which cemented Pink as ‘feminine’, Pink did not have a definitive gender attachment.
The exhibition intends to open up a dialogue which questions and reflects upon individuality, representation, sexuality, femininity and masculinity and gender stereotypes.
